In the Philippines, the CECI’s Volunteer Cooperation Program advances women’s economic empowerment in key sectors such as the green economy, rural agriculture, and the blue economy. This is achieved by working alongside partners to strengthen women and youth-led SMEs, cooperatives and social enterprises in sustainable agricultural value-chains. Through collaboration with Canadian volunteers and partners, the program enhances access to accelerators, innovation, finance, markets as well as gender inclusive and climate-resilient practices.

Functions

  • The main partner organization (under contract) for this assignment is Peace Equity Foundation (PEF), but the volunteer will also support other partner organizations of the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP).

  • Provide strategic and technical advice on integrating environmental sustainability and climate resilience into organizational programs and community development initiatives.

  • Advise on the design and implementation of climate change adaptation, mitigation, and environmental conservation strategies that strengthen community resilience and sustainable livelihoods.

  • Support the integration of climate and environmental considerations into project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen climate resilience among vulnerable communities through inclusive and locally led approaches.

  • Participate in the development of technical guides, toolkits, training modules, and other knowledge resources to strengthen the capacity of staff, partners, and communities on climate change adaptation, environmental sustainability, and resilient livelihoods.

  • Contribute to the development of knowledge products, policy recommendations, and learning resources that promote evidence-based climate and environmental action.

  • Promote knowledge sharing and the adoption of good practices, innovations, and emerging approaches in climate resilience and sustainable development.

  • Contribute to documenting and communicating lessons, innovations, and evidence on community-led climate action and environmental sustainability.

     

    CROSS-CUTTING RESPONSABILITIES

  • Systematically integrate gender equality, human rights, and diversity approaches into all activities, ensuring the participation and representation of women and young women throughout all initiatives.

  • Integrate environmental issues and climate change adaptation in all activities.

  • Make sure to respect, at all times, the organization's guides, manuals, guidelines, or instructions related to security and safety.

  • Take the necessary means to ensure your own security, namely by establishing an individual risk mitigation plan in your place of assignment.

  • Participate in communication activities designed to share your volunteering experience with those around you and raise awareness of international solidarity issues.

  • Organize or support a fundraising event to contribute to community efforts. You will have access to the necessary tools and the support of a resource person throughout your mandate.

  • Write the reports required by the partner organization and the CECI program. 


Required skills

  • Degree in environmental science, environmental management, forestry, agriculture, natural resource management, development studies, geography, or related fields.

  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, environmental management, sustainable development, natural resource management, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing technical guidance documents, toolkits, capacity-building materials, or training curricula on climate change, environmental sustainability, or community resilience.

  • Understanding climate-resilient livelihoods, ecosystem-based approaches, and community-led development.

  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent facilitation, mentoring, and capacity-building skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.

  • Suivi continu, accompagnement et mesures de sécurité assurées par l’équipe du CECI
  • Mise en pratique de vos compétences professionnelles pour appuyer des initiatives locales.
Post-mandat

Après la fin de votre mandat, vous poursuivez votre engagement et capitalisez sur votre expérience :

  • Retour au Canada et bilan individuel
  • Activité d’engagement du public à compléter
  • Engagement dans le réseau des ancien-ne-s volontaires
  • Opportunités de partage d’expériences, mentorat et participation à des activités du CECI
